Hi guys,
Just want to give you guys a compliment. I've been using Astaro at home for years now, and very satisfied. Had problems, had successes. Ran on esxi, then on a home build atom and lately on hyper-v. Allways the latest version. On hyper-v I had many crashes, which turned out to be the on-board intel nic driver of my hyper-v whitebox. Replaced it with the Intel CT adapter and worked ok.
Tonight I thought I'm going to upgrade 2008 R2 to Server 8. Went fine for my other vm's but the Astaro 8.3 went in kernel panic. Ok, not to worry, the weekly backups have saved me before. Create new virtual machine, attach iso, start up.... no way this is working!
So I downloaded UTM beta 8910 as a last resort. Attached the iso to the newly vm, booted and got a short error but I was able to install the software and even restored the backup from 8.3 to the new one. Worked as a charm, even with the hyper-v nic's instead of the legacy ones!
Gave it 3GB ram, only thing is the processor compatibility, left it turned on. By mistake, but it works for now. RAM usage is now at 49%.
On the same box I run a DC, Exchange 2010, Sharepoint, Wordpress, SCOM 2007 and SCVMM 2008. Works all fine.
Again, my compliments for this UTM!! Keep it up!
Kind regards, Renzo
