Comcast Business Modem and a Dynamic IP

So yesterday I switched out my residential comcast service over to business. Mainly because I don't like bandwidth caps and I actually got it for the same price as my residential service. So anyways, I decided to forego the static IP because it was an additional 15 bucks a month and I really don't have a need for a static IP since I have some cron jobs that run and update zoneedit as needed. The problem here though was getting the connections running. With the modem that they brought me it has a 4 port switch built into it, so my intentions are to run two astaro boxes in HA mode. This way I can run the updates on my ESXi boxes that house the astaros and still have internet which if you run ESXi is kinda necessary. So while the tech was still here I made sure that I could get on the internet. The problem that I ran into is that I can't connect from the outside back in. The work around that I found for this was to simply put the firewall into the DMZ of the modem. Also all of the firewall rules and settings on the modem are all turned off so in theory it should just hand everything back to the astaro but for whatever reason it doesn't. I'm wondering if anyone else out here has a similar setup and maybe I'm missing something. Thank you all for your help in advance and I guess if I need to I can always purchase the static IP which would allow me to put the modem into bridge mode. Thanks.
