I am new to Astaro having come from pfSense and Untangle.
Using VMWare Workstation v8, 8.0.3 to test this out.
Tried the virtual appliace.
Tried installing from the ISO creating a new VM under SUSE x64 linux.
Assigned 2 virtual nics to the Astaro VM
1512 ram
1 cpu, 1 core
50 gig space
The installs have all gone fine.
The appliance shows an Ip that it chose, 192.168.2.100
My host physical server is 192.168.0.12
I am able to ping the Astaro 192.168.2.100
Cannot reach the web admin
Rebuilt the VM from the ISO
chose 192.168.0.50 as the IP
Install goes fine
Can ping 192.168.0.50
Cannot reach the Webadmin
I have done the Google and Forum searches but most people seem to be using physical machines and they simply swap their LAN/WAN cables and get in. Since this is a VM I do not have this option.
I am unfamiliar with Linux.
I suspect this is due to the WAN/LAN virtual nics getting a wrong IP
Questions:
What might be the problem and how would I fix this?
Seems that it would be a far smarter idea to allow the Astaro to use the network DHCP so that you can at least get into the unit and configure it later with the web admin
Untangle and pfSense use this method, it has never failed.
Due to reading quite a few posts with this problem, I would say this is a pretty serious install problem and should be corrected so as not to turn off potential users to this product.
Thanks for any help and suggestions.
