Hello,
I was reacently tasked with installing Google Adwords Editor for use by our marketing department.
We are using Ataro 7.510 and Active Directory authentication. Google Adwords support team confirmed that the Editor supports both Digest and Basic authentication.
It is my understanding that once NTLM authentication fails Astaro reverts to Basic Authentication (Confirmed watching traffic). There is an option in Adwords to use an HTTP proxy and provides feilds for username, password, gateway and port. This information is transmitted (In plain text btw) while astaro is attempting to authenicate with AD.
Astaro then replies back that it couldn't authenticate using NTLM and send a request for username and passwird via HTTP. Adwords doesn't seem to understand what to do the HTTP and never prompts the user for info.
Our proxy administrator is not keen to create exceptions for this program and is looking for other options. I also feel that he will not be pleased to learn that were we to find a way to use Adwords HTTP proxy authentication that it will be transmitting the domain username and password in plain text to the proxy.
Has anyone run into anything like this and came up with a viable work arround? If we were somehow able to prompt the user for Basic authentication that would be ideal.
Thank you in advance for forgiving me for not being the proxy manager and lacking some knowledge. If addition information is needed I can surely get it.
Thank you
