Hi,
Quick question about licensing.
The only(?) reseller in the country where I am currently working is providing me with some information that I find quite confusing and I'm hoping that someone can clear this up for me.
I have inherited a system running an ASG v8 virtual appliance protecting the VMs in an ESX host. There is an Exchange server and 2 Sharepoint servers being protected by the ASG in this configuration. There is a single site-to-site VPN running, and no client remote access. All end-users connect to Exchange through Outlook Anywhere, and Sharepoint through their web browsers.
The currently installed licenses on this ASG v8 virtual appliance are a 250 user Network Security License and a 250 user Mail Security license.
I have looked at our Active IP Addresses list, and it is only listing 5 IPs currently in use, which means that over the last 7 days we have been using 5/250 of our paid-for Network Security licenses.
Now, my reseller is telling me that if we would like to purchase (or now renew) the 250 user Mail Security License, then we are then FORCED to purchase the 250 user Network Security License. This means that our costs skyrocket, and I would be better off sending my mail traffic to Postini at $12/user or DynDNS at $50/domain/year.
I have a gut feeling here that my reseller is trying to pull a used car salesman deal on me here, or possibly that he doesn't understand Astaro licensing. His English is not the best (and I am not comfortable conversing in the local language in a business setting) so it's been difficult to fully understand Astaro's licensing requirements through this reseller.
So, does anyone on the forum know if I can purchase a 10 user Network Security license and a 250 user mail security license for the same ASG? That is really all I need.
And if it is possible, is there someone that can help me work with my Astaro reseller? They have basically told me that this is not possible at all due to restrictions by Astaro.
Thanks.
