Hi,
I have a question about a hypothetical scenario (which could become a reality, depending on the answer to this question and my circumstances) with the software appliance version of the ASG Home Edition (or Sophos UTM as it now seems to be called). In a few months time I might be getting my own place and when I do I'm considering having two Internet connections running there: a fixed-line ADSL and a satellite broadband link. With one satellite provider I've looked at they support Ethernet connectivity for their equipment, so theoretically with the PC I install the gateway on I can have an Ethernet card dedicated to that connection and another one for the ADSL. I understand that the gateway can support more than one WAN interface and allow you to control how they are utilised.
What I would like to know out of interest however is the following:
Let's label each WAN interface as above A and B for argument's sake, and let's say we have two machines labelled A and B. Is it possible in any way to control via the gateway which user gets their Internet from which WAN interface (e.g. give user A access to WAN A, and give user B access to WAN B)?
The reason I ask is that I may decide to have one machine in my new place (could be a Linux desktop or a NAS, not sure which yet) which could be used purely for fast downloads so I could put that through the satellite link, and then another machine through the fixed line for the purpose of the faster ping rate which would work well for me when gaming online.
Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.
Regards,
Jon.
