I received an email from my ASG today telling me that I have used 47 of the 50 "Users/IPs" available on my Home Use license. This was news to me, as we have only around 20 devices in the house, even including printers, PS3, TiVos, etc. Sure enough, when I go to Active IP Addresses on the ASG, I see only 26 IPv4 addresses... but 47 IPv6 addresses!
I have no idea where all those IPv6 addresses came from, or why there are almost twice as many of them as there are IPv4's, since I have only a handful of IPv6-enabled devices and absolutely nothing that is IPv6-only.
I'm in the process of installing the free trial version of SolarWinds' IP Address Manager to try to see how many of those IPv6 addresses are actually on the network right now, but I can't help wondering if ASG is failing to drop old IPv6 addresses out of its license table after 7 days, as it does for IPv4 addresses. I'm going to leave it alone for now, but if it starts to reject new connections because it thinks I've exceeded my 50, I guess I'll reset the table using cc and see how many of them actually come back.
