Strange bridging behaviour

Right here is something I can't make sence of. I am trying to get bridges networking working in a VM environment. I have set up the ASG with one management link (192.168.2.100/24) and I have two nics bridged (172.16.252.137/24).

I could not get a DHCP address from the vmware DHCP server behind the ASG, but turning on DHCP in the ASG for the bridge gets the clients an IP.

Now here is where it gets strange; I see the DHCP address coming from 172.16.252.137 (the asg), but I can not ping down that side of the bridge, and the ASG can't ping anything on that side either. It can however ping clients on the other interface.

I could understand if one side did not pass traffic at all but that I got a DHCP address is just weard.
